This 2021 report by The Young Foundation explores how social investment can better incorporate the voices and lived experiences of the communities it aims to support. Drawing from over 60 contributors with lived experience, the report critiques current power dynamics and calls for more inclusive, co-designed investment models. It emphasises relationship-building, trust and structural accountability. Through case studies and practical recommendations, it outlines ways to embed community voice in governance, decision-making and funding structures, ultimately challenging investors to move from transactional to transformational approaches.
