The first Social Enterprise World Forum took place in 2008, bringing together hundreds of individuals and organisations from across the global social enterprise movement.
Since then, SEWF events have been held on every continent. In 2020, in response to the pandemic, we moved fully online and in 2023 we introduced a hybrid model – combining in-person participation, online access and locally-led Community Hubs.
SEWF events are designed in close collaboration with local partners to reflect regional realities and support long-term outcomes and event legacy.
By attending SEWF events, social enterprises have developed new ideas and solutions, secured funding and investment and formed collaborations, partnerships and life-long friendships. SEWF events raise awareness of social enterprise in the co-host country and strengthen the local social enterprise ecosystem. In some years they have influenced policy change, resulted in new funds being created and increased market opportunities.
