GJ Lee

Dr. GJ Lee is the Director General of Taiwan’s Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA), which leads national efforts to support entrepreneurship, innovation and the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Since 2018, SMESA has aligned with the Social Innovation Action Plan to promote the Buying Power initiative, generating over NT$7.7 billion in social procurement and amplifying impact across Taiwan’s social innovation ecosystem. Dr. Lee also drives MSME revitalisation through strategies focused on digital transformation, net-zero transition and market channel expansion. He brings extensive experience in international trade and diplomacy, having served in senior roles in India, Australia, the United States and at the WTO.
