SEWF appoints new Youth Advisory Group
At SEWF, diversity is essential to our programming and in 2021, not only do we aim to have 50% of our speakers identifying as female, non-binary or trans. We also aim to have 30% of our speakers being under 30 and hailing from a wide range of geographies and sectors.
The Social Enterprise World Forum is pleased to announce and welcome a new set of young people known as the SEWF Youth Advisory Group. The Group consists of young experts and social entrepreneurs from a diverse range of backgrounds, sectors and representatives from various countries including Bangladesh, Canada, Ethiopia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Scotland, USA and Taiwan. One of their major roles as Youth Advisors is to ensure that the plans and programming for SEWF 2021 and the Youth Forum are inclusive, relevant and engaging for young social enterprise leaders, practitioners and other young people around the world.
Our Youth Advisors are actively tackling some of the biggest issues within their societies. From feeding and rehabilitating street children to building hospitals, creating inclusive organizations to sensitize the masses on disability inclusion while ensuring many have access to clean water and healthcare. They have gone ahead to receive various recognitions for their work including being Forbes 30 under 30 and more.
Members of the Youth Advisory Group were selected from a pool of past SEWF Youth Speakers and nominees who applied to be part of the Group.
Furthermore, the Social Enterprise World Forum today is much more than a single annual event: we work throughout the year to support the global social enterprise movement, including through our policy and social procurement work. We also hold separate events for rural social enterprises, young people, policymakers and academics. In 2021, all our events will be digital to maximise participation, impact and our goal is to grow the global social enterprise movement to accelerate our transition to a new global impact economy.
The Youth Forum to be held on 27 September 2021, (as designed by and for young social entrepreneurs) is one of the events that the Youth Advisors will be making programming input towards. This event is open and free to anyone under 30 years of age. The Youth Forum will also feature masterclasses, mentoring sessions and inspiring keynotes; and the first 500 to register will also get free access to SEWF 2021 on 28-29 September.
