Scotland to host Social Enterprise World Forum 2018
Social enterprises in Scotland and across the UK will welcome the international social enterprise movement to Edinburgh for the 10th Social Enterprise World Forum this year. The Forum will take place in the Edinburgh International Convention Centre from 12th-14th September 2018 (view the launch video). The anticipated 1200 participants will include social enterprise leaders, policy makers, commercial partners, academics, students and young entrepreneurs. Event hosts, Community Enterprise in Scotland (CEIS) are planning a week-long programme of activities including social enterprise study tours in the Highlands and Islands, Central and Lowland Scotland and London in partnership with Social Enterprise UK.
Those interested in rural social enterprise policy will congregate in Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides on September 17th and 18th while a pre-forum Academic Symposium for those teaching and researching social enterprise will be hosted by Glasgow Caledonian University. Another pre-forum event will focus on “Social Enterprise Leadership for Zero Waste and Zero Carbon” and will take place at The Experience near Glasgow.
Since the first Social Enterprise World Forum in 2008, social enterprises around the world have transformed lives, revitalised communities and tackled big economic issues. Social enterprise is now a truly global phenomenon and the 2018 Forum tracks and themes will reflect the progress over a decade and test ambition for the challenges ahead.
